Pollinate Aylmer
Gardening workshop at Eardley Elementary planted dreams

Pollinate Aylmer hosted an event at Eardley Elementary School about pollination and flower planting.
The event consisted of a presentation on pollination, followed by a workshop where families could create their own garden from scratch. The workshop had families, adults, and children smiling and having some good family time while contributing to the environment.
Ioana Nereuta, who hosted the event, mentioned that bringing the community together and involving families was a big part of their events. ‘’We've connected a lot of people with plants,’’ she said.
Pollinate Aylmer started in 2025, helping the environment and building butterfly gardens across Aylmer. They supplied the seed for planting at the event, including Mild Child and Wild Child, and even offered a rain garden.
Mackenzie Palmer, the Community Development Agent for Eardley Elementary, mentioned that another big part of these events is to offer activities for everyone, not just at school, but also after school hours, to provide a better primary experience for the children.
‘’Events like this did happen before COVID,” said Palmer, “but I think when it was over everyone just kind of stayed home and forgot that schools can still be a super fun community.’’
The event was enjoyable, taught children valuable lessons about gardening and the environment, produced smiles, and gave children an opportunity to bring home their own mini garden.
