Commercial building gets another greenlight from City

The "Écoquartier Connaught" pilot project is moving forward with its final steps, as the City of Gatineau has approved a slight reduction in the strip of vegetation along Aylmer Road.
It will therefore be reduced from 25 meters to 20 meters.
The decision was made after the city council held its last meeting on February 17 at the Aydelu Center in Aylmer. The primary goal of this measure is to allow for landscaping while preserving the green corridor and providing greater accessibility to public transportation.
As part of the Connaught Eco-Neighborhood pilot development project developed by Habitations Bouladier, the construction of a new commercial building is planned. The address is known to be 810 Aylmer Road. The building will have three floors and a green roof. A pharmacy will also be located on the ground floor of the building. The main entrance will be on Joe Gorman Street, while two other service entrances will be available on the neighbourhood's private street. The date for the completion of the building's construction is not yet known.
According to project leaders, the project originated from a collaboration between the city and its citizens, who have a say in the matter. Their ideas are strongly encouraged in order to give them a residential, sustainable, and innovative project specially designed to reflect their image. They are frequently invited to participate in meetings, in particular to help define what they really want to see shaped in their neighborhood. The project also aims to be a model for preserving the green corridor by offering energy-efficient buildings and access to public community spaces on a large plot of land valued at approximately $869,700. To achieve this, Habitations Bouladier sought the services and expertise of Écohabitation, an organization that specializes in green buildings and promotes sustainable development.
